How to Find Out if Your Insurance Will Pay for Prothesis

By Georgia Prosthetics

Our team is dedicated to helping patients obtain prostheses that will significantly improve their daily lives. We understand that getting a prosthesis is a considerable investment and that cost must be taken into consideration.

However, we never want cost to prevent a patient from getting a device that will change his or her life.

That is why we do everything we can to help our patients maximize their insurance coverage and use every available resource to lessen the financial burden of getting a prosthesis.

Which Prosthetics Services Does Insurance Cover?

While each individual’s health insurance will differ, most insurance providers will cover some if not all of the costs associated with your prosthesis. However, there may be limitations as to what kind of prosthesis will be covered or how often you can replace your prosthesis.

For example, devices that are used for cosmetic rather than functional purposes or special prosthetic devices used for athletics may not be covered by insurance. In addition, devices that utilize more advanced technologywill naturally be more expensive and may not be covered.

That being said, we have experience in working with insurance companies to make prosthetic devices more affordable for patients.

Other Sources of Financial Help

In addition to insurance, individuals may be eligible to obtain financial assistance for their prostheses from sources such as Medicare or Medicaid. We can help determine whether these sources will help cover the cost of your device.
